Hi, I'm Maya.

Maya Santos in Ubud rice fields

I didn't plan to stay in Bali. I came for a month in 2023, fell in love with the rhythm of morning offerings, the smell of clove cigarettes at dusk, and the way locals still greet each other with "sampai jumpa" instead of rushing past. Three years later, I'm still here. Between Canggu's chaotic scooter lanes and Ubud's quiet river paths, I've built a life that runs on cheap coffee, slow mornings, and honest writing.

Travel On A Cloud started as a notes app full of warung addresses, bus schedules, and temple etiquette reminders. Friends kept asking for copies. Then strangers did. So I cleaned it up, added photos that don't need filters, and put it online. No sponsored fluff. No "top 10 influencer spots." Just what actually works when you're traveling alone, on a budget, and tired of being sold a packaged version of paradise.

When I'm not writing, I'm usually: bargaining at Pejeng market, fixing my leaky scooter brake, or drinking too much kopi tubruk while watching rain hit the banana leaves. I believe travel should feel like living, not checking boxes. And I believe you don't need a trust fund to experience this island deeply.

If you're planning a trip and want advice that comes from someone who actually pays rent here, you're in the right place. Welcome to the cloud. Stay a while.
